"The organic market has great potential for German growers"

Dr.Hans-Peter Friedrich, the German minister of Nutrition and Agriculture, during the international GrĂ¼ne Woche (Green Week) in Berlin, has stressed the ecological and economic importance of the organic branch.

"The organic agriculture sets standards: it is careful with sources, burdens the environment as little as possible and orientates itself even more on the principle of sustainability. That earns it recognition and attention. The organic agriculture in Germany is also of economic importance. Except for the U.S. there is namely no country in the world where organic products are so loved as in Germany" Friedrich said.

"We need food from organic and regional cultivation. There is more and more demand for this all the time. The organic market has great large potential. German growers must make use of this. We will have to increase the share of the care for organic products from local production. With that I will support growers politically" remarks Friedrich.
