Herbafrost expands range of frozen herb portions

Although Herbafrost is focused on the production of deep frozen, loosely rolled herbs (IQF), the company continually strives to meet the desires of their customers. "Therefore we now offer deep frozen herbs in a handy 20 gram portion," explains Suzy Aerts from Herbafrost. "These portion sized pellets are extremely handy in the preparation of soups, sauces and vegetable juices. The portions are handy to use and the demand for such products came from our industry clients who include manufacturers of soups, sauces and vegetable juices."

More possibilities
"The most popular herbs in this form are currently sorrel, chervil, parsley, coriander and watercress. Other herbs are naturally possible, such as mixed spice. Suzy indicates that they are currently only delivering the portions of herbs to foreign customers. "If we look at our customer base, the European market is the most important with the main buyers coming from Benelux, Germany and France."

Growth of 4.5%
Herbafrost specialises in the processing of conventional and organic herbs and delivers these deep frozen to industry, caterers and end users. Next to the headquarters in Hulshout there is also a branch in Vladslo (Diksmuide). Looking back over the last year Herbafrost has grown nicely. "Our total sales have increased by 4.5% on the previous year and what is surprising is that the organic portion has also risen sharply: 2012 saw an increase of 3%. We also introduced a new product this year: deep frozen organic herbs in retail packaged 75 gram zip bags."
