Spreafico decided to start the campaign early thanks to the good organoleptic qualities the fruit had reached already only a few weeks ago and also due to increasing demand. In order to be at its best, Angelys pears need to spend some time in cold storage units after harvesting.
"We expect to sell 3,000 tonnes of first category produce until May 2014. The fruit will be shipped all over the domestic territory and to some foreign chains which are already familiar with it," reports Maurizio Cotti from the Quality sector at Spreafico.
Angelys pears will be sold with waxed stalks in 30x40, 30x50 and 40x60 crates, but also in trays and filmed punnets in addition to the more traditional basket boxes.
