Years ago most Kenyans viewed agriculture as a job for the old people. However, in the last few years, this notion is changing and young people are now embracing farming. This is expected to help grow the industry. However, the most challenging thing is not having a consistent market which demotivates farmers. This is the reason why Tymax would like to link the farmers with International markets.
Tymax has until now been helping exporters access raw material from Kenyan farmers. However, they now intend to start exporting directly. The products include mangoes, bananas, Paw paw, citrus, sugar snaps, chillies and herbs amongst many others.
The most prominent problems for Kenyan farmers is lack of market information and organised stable markets, the high cost of finance and labour. Infertile soils produce low yields and fertiliser, chemicals and seed is expensive, the farmers also lack technical experience and training. In Kenya infrastructure is also lacking there are minimal goods roads and storage facilities
Tymax aims to offer services to enable the farmers to invest in new technology and how to source it at a minimal cost also to find consistent markets where the produce can be sold.
