South Africa: Indigo Fruit Farming wins M&S People's award
“I am very excited about the award,” says Indigo director Salwa Peterson. “It is a privilege to get an award for something that is important for our company – our staff, the community and the environment. It also gives us the opportunity to work with other companies to develop and expand the projects.”
ClemenGold’s Global Brand director Michelle Kruger says part of The ClemenGold Company’s ethos is to work responsibly with all resources related to bringing the finest citrus fruit to consumers. “We are proud to be associated with a company that treats their people with respect and dignity.”
Projects that Indigo implemented was a Wellness Programme for staff and a youth project for kids from the producing farms and surrounding areas.
The Wellness Day led to increased understanding and tolerance of the staff and towards each other, celebrating the diversity of their different cultures, and resulted in better work performance.
The youth project, Aerials Up, was established to help the despondent youth gain hope and belief in their future. A school reported afterwards the kids who went on the adventure weekend have improved self-esteem and more respect for each other and their teachers.
