Morelos
Mexico interested in exporting avocado from Cuernavaca
The head of Agricultural Development of the City of Cuernavaca, Carlos Alaniz Romero, revealed that avocado growers from Buena Vista del Monte might enter the expanded export avocado program.
The councillor said that, together with the three levels of government, they have been working to include producers from Ocuituco, Totolapan and Buena Vista del Monte in the program, which would allow them to market their product in other countries due to its quality.
He explained that they had explored different ways to guide the municipality's strategic projects, highlighting the avocado product system of the town of Buena Vista del Monte, located in the municipality of Havana.
"Derived from the expanded program for the export of avocado, Sagarpa and coordinated by the National Health Service, Safety and Quality (Senasica), Morelos is amongst the five states that host areas of potential."
He said that this was in accordance with APHIS -PPQ's regulatory conditions, NOM -66-PHYTO, which rules the coordinating process between the government and producers to certify their crops so that they can become exporters.
