Special Fruit aims for BSCI certified suppliers with exotics

With the end of the year in sight, Special Fruit's extensive, specific supply of exotics has come to attention. "The demand for exotics continues to grow and due to our flexibility we can play into this demand without any problems. An important factor for our customers is the social certification. With exotics coming from all over the world, it's no small factor."

Goal for next year at least two thirds
"Special Fruits has been a member of BSCI since 2011 and expects its suppliers to adhere to the BSCI code of conduct. At BSCI a healthy work environment and the rights of the employee are central. Our goal is to work with at least 2/3 BSCI certified suppliers next year."

"The strongholds of our exotics assortment remains the mangos, avocados and pomegranates, all of which come from BSCI certified suppliers. But the maracuya, papaya and passionfruit are also on the rise. There are also the end of year classics, such as figs from Brazil, pitahaya from Vietnam or physalis, which contribute to the boost in the sales of exotics."
