Chilean fresh fruit seeks to keep the Russian market
For the fifth consecutive year, Chile had a stand at the World Food Moscow fair in Russia, where the Chilean fruit seeks to maintain its strong position as a supplier of this important market.
ASOEX, together with ProChile, were responsible for the presence of the Chilean fruit in the 22nd World Food Moscow Fair, which took place from the 16 to the 19 of September 2013.
"Chile's participation in the fair is of great importance because this is a growing market in economic terms and in consumption, representing a population of over 140 million people, all of which makes Russia an important market. Our country participated for the seventh time at the fair, seeking to increase the presence and penetration of Chilean fruit," said Sebastian Pillado, ProChile's Commercial Director in Russia.
According to Christian Carvajal, ASOEX's Marketing Manager for Europe, interest in this market is growing as was shown by the first time participation of other Southern Hemisphere countries, such as Peru and Brazil in this year's Fair. "On this occasion we also unveiled and thus positioned, our Chilean fruit sector brand, a marker that refers to our fruit products' high quality, food security and safety," he said.
Overall, Chilean fruit exports to the Russian market reached 89,000 tonnes for the 2011-2012 season, positioning the country as the third most important destination market for Chilean fruit exports to the European market.
