Barnaby Joyce appointed Federal Minister for Agriculture for AUSVEG
AUSVEG, The National Peak Industry Body for vegetable and potato growers, has welcomed the Federal Government’s appointment of Mr Barnaby Joyce as the new Minister for Agriculture. “On behalf of the vegetable and potato industries, AUSVEG welcomes Mr Joyce as the new Federal Agriculture Minister. Given Mr Joyce’s past involvement in rural affairs we are glad to welcome him to the role, and look forward to working alongside the Federal Government to the benefit of horticulture in Australia,” said AUSVEG Chief Executive Officer, Richard Mulcahy.
“Given his background in rural politics, Mr. Joyce will be well versed on the importance of horticulture to our nation. The vegetable industry is worth over three billion dollars, and is growing in potential in terms of its economic contribution to the economy. Horticulture is a backbone for many rural and regional communities as well a significant employer,” said Mr Mulcahy. “We look forward to working with Mr Joyce in addressing the challenges facing the horticulture sector."
