"Huge interest in Belgian fruit and vegetables"

Happy hour at VLAM during Asia Fruit Logistica

VLAM organised a group stand at Asia Fruit Logistica for the Belgian fruit and vegetable sector from September 4 to September 6 for the third time. This fair participation is part of the 'Premium Quality, Perfect Taste', which is focussed on the fresh market outside of Europe. On Thursday 5 September there was a happy hour in the VLAM stand at the end of the afternoon and invitees could enjoy tasty vegetable snack, which were prepared by the chef.

Various products in the spotlight

Anneleen Leon is happy with the fair in Hong Kong. "We have various products in the spotlight on the Asian market, such as the Jonagold, Conference, chicory, leek and tomatoes. What was striking this year was that Asians showed interest in celeriac. It's still a reasonably unknown vegetable here. Visitors loved the celeriac, which was baked in small slices. The sweet pointy pepper was also popular. A lot of pictures of it were taken. Another product that people liked was the 'Steamy' chicory. A lot of questions were asked at the stall about the various Belgian fruit and vegetables. The interest in the products is huge. At the moment only Conference pears are allowed to be exported to China from Belgian. There is demand for other products. Now we're waiting to see if we can enter the market."

Anneleen says that the Asia Fruit Logistica is on the schedule for VLAM again next year. "To keep our contacts interested, we have to show our face here regularly. We hope that the Belgian exporters will also see how interesting this market is, so we can have more stall holders next year."
