Chile: Blueberry export volumes slow as harvest heads towards end

There are only around two weeks left of the Chilean blueberry harvest now, as the Southern region winds down. Remaining weekly volumes will be low.

The declining harvest can be seen in the lower volumes of fruit being exported, which last week fell below 1,000 tons for the first time this season, reaching just 818 tons.

For the remainder of the season volumes will be very low and are not expected to exceed 500 tons per week.

Though there will be more fruit picked in the South, the bulk of what is left is not of export quality and is destined for industrial use. The entire Southern season will be over within the first week of April.

The South Central Zone will last until week 13, one week longer than the previous year.

The total 85,500 tonnes exported to date represents an increase of 22% over the previous season.
