Dole-Earth honoured for European website
On its Dole-Earth website, the world's largest supplier of fresh and processed fruit and vegetables provides consumers with novel and creative access to information on how its bananas are produced. Dole-Earth was designed by Hamburg-based agency Haasenstein.

"We are very pleased by this European honour and are especially proud of winning an award for our Dole-Earth website and campaign for the second time within a month," explains Xavier Roussel, Marketing and Communication Director of Dole Fresh Fruit Europe. "Our company not only sets new standards in terms of the transparency of the supply chain but also shows the people who are behind the product."
Dole-branded bananas exported to Europe bear a new sticker with a 5-digit Farm Code, which allows the fruit to be tracked back to the farm where it was produced via dole-earth.com. Visitors to the website can take a virtual sightseeing tour of a plantation and watch all the steps in producing premium fruit. Various videos also show the banana supply chain, provide information on the Dole programme for social responsibility and portray Dole employees.
The European Excellence Award honours successful campaigns by communication experts in Europe. This year the jury evaluated more than 1,450 entries in 60 different categories. Dole-Earth was able to win through in the final round against competitors such as BBC, Coca Cola, Danish Crown and EDP Energias. In November, too, Dole-Earth was honoured with the Hamma award for the most creative marketing campaign in Hamburg in the category of "large companies".
