Gist, a well-known company in the UK supply chain industry, is re-branding its Dutch-based businesses this month to consolidate its brand as a single entity, in place of the separate brand names it currently promotes.
Van Dongen, Soonius and Peeman Transport, owned by Gist will all be re-banded under the Gist name. The Dutch operation will be centred at Bleiswijk, where Gist have had premises for 14 years, the site has been newly updated and contains 10,000 m² of warehouses, 3000 m² of which are cold storage. The move was completed on Saturday.
Gist Chief Executive, Martin Gwynn said the move was a logical step, "Having different companies with different names became confusing for clients. We decided on one brand, Gist, which is very well known Globally, we want to take the business further and grow."
Gwynn describes the move to Bleiswijk as logical, "Having one point at which to consolidate collections makes sense. We have a bigger team all located at one location." He said the move was not influenced by the economic situation, it just made good business sense.
"We can streamline and bring all our skills together, we have big ambitions for Holland and a great team there who will take Gist forward and grow the business."
He stressed that all Dutch employees have been offered a position at the new location.
When asked if there was a future in road transportation, Gwynn said that they are always looking for the best plan, the most appropriate method of transportation to serve their client around the globe.
Winning 15 major industry awards over the last three years, Gist provides supply chain operations for major retailers as well as managing global end-to-end supply chains for fresh produce, flowers and plants. The business specialises in managing time and temperature sensitive products.
