Argentina: Slight increase in lemon prices

Ricardo Cecilia, of Mercofrut said the drought affected production. "Prices are not very high," he said. He estimated that this year, "we will not have a strong harvest"

"We have been suffering an overwhelming drought for a long time now, and that is a reason why this citrus volumes have been down," explained Ricardo Cecilia of Mercofrut.

However, he said that "prices are not very high, even though the production is very weak."

It also considered that this year production will not be normal. "We will not have a harvest strong as other years, because we had had many months without rain," he informed.

However, he warned that "in the market, prices are quite accessible because sales are pretty poor. The offer is not very big but the demand is low," he added.

He said the price of "the fruit is the same today, for the holidays, consumption may be higher, prices rise."
