Peru: Camposol European operations growing year by year
"CAMPOSOL Fresh Europe started operations in 2009 with only one person and since then has grown year by year."
The latest recruit is a Russian account manager to handle sales in that country.
"During 2012 we have incorporated new members of different nationalities. Currently our staff includes people from the Netherlands, Germany, France, Russia and Peru and together we speak over 11 languages."
CAMPOSOL sees the expansion of the team as part of its focus on customer service, ensuring the best possible communications with clients.
"We believe that to be an international company, we need an international team. It's important not only to understand our customer's languages, but also their culture and way of thinking. To Show our commitment to this level of service we opened our office in Rotterdam and, we opened an office in Florida."
This ability to adapt is visible in other areas as well as in recruiting appropriate personnel.
One example of this is the search of new grape varieties. As more and more people develop the taste for seedless grapes, CAMPOSOL are looking into new options for the future.
"The plan is to develop a diverse range of varieties so that volumes can be safeguarded - as can prices. Alternative varieties, which are being developed in conjunction with specialised nurseries, are focusing on seedless varieties, red, white and black types."
Another area that the company may focus on in the future is a relative newcomer to the Peruvian fruit scene - the blueberry.
"This is a new product for the country that only began to be planted two years ago and today there are 250 ha under cultivation."
Cultivation is spread over North Coast in Trujillo, the South Coast in Canete and Caraz in the East.
"This is projected to grow, though we will need to look at the results of this year and next year's harvests. If results are positive then CAMPOSOL expects to enter the market and become a national leader."
CAMPOSOL participate in and guide each stage of the growing cycle of their asparagus (white and green), avocados, grapes, blueberries, mangoes, piquillo peppers (and capsicums) and mandarins, among others.
CAMPOSOL holds the following current certifications, among others:
• BSCI - Business Social Compliance Initiative
• GLOBAL GAP
• IFS – International Food Standard V5
• HACCP – Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point
• BRC – Global Standard for Food Safety V6
