Peru: FCE Export starts mango export season
“We will do only a small program to importers who also have the fruit programmed with their customers”, she said.
“The expected production is much higher than last season and the peak of export will be in the cold Winter months in Europe; therefore it is important exporters find new export destinations outside of Europe”.
“FCE Export Sac will export mango until February, Watermelons from February to April and start again with avocado in March”.
Expectations for the mango season 2012 – 2013 in Peru will come to export one hundred five thousand tons (105,000 TN) between the months of December and January. By weather conditions, in this season the mangos will have even better quality.
An estimated 60% of production will export to Europe, 35% to the U.S. and 5% in Chile, China and New Zealand. Prices are coming down every week and in week 48 the field price was S /. 18 the crate of 20 kg, for this week 49 is estimated down to S/.16 the crate.
Exports updated to November 30 - week 48, 68 containers were exported via sea.
Mango exports from 2012 - 2013 in Peru, is very slow with increased production. Many exporting companies think their loading programs will be down next week.
Producers are the most affected by this, because they have no confidence in the prices being given by the exporters.
