Chile: Prune exports increased by 42% in 2012

According to Chile Prunes, prune exports during the 2012 season reached a
cumulative total of 53,122 tons, which is equivalent to a 42% increase in exports compared to the same season last year.

The European market achieved a cumulative total of 34,707 tons exported, where Russia ranked as the main destination with a total of 11,313 tons exported, equivalent to 18.4% of total shipments.

Middle East fell by 19% reaching 1,016 tons, although within the region Egypt grew by 43%. Furthermore, Asia increased by 230% reaching 1,438 tons.

Latin America got a total of 14,886 tons, equivalent to 27% of total exports, with Mexico as the first target market with 6,238 tons exported.
