Ecuador: San Francsico S.A.E.P.R enters 12th year of pineapple cultivation
"Our pineapples have a unique flavor," said Ana María Hidalgo, general manager of San Francsico. "The MD2 Golden Sweet has the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity; it's sweeter and less acidic than other varieties." She credited the growing region, along with the tropical climate and well-honed growing practices, as a big reason for the quality of their fruit.
A large part of their growing process involves adhering to strict labor regulations that ensure the safety of their workforce, and their contributions to the communities around their growing operations ensure that they not only provide quality fruit, but they do so in a positive way. Adherence to Global GAP standards and an Integrated Pest Management approach also means they guarantee the safety of their pineapples while maintaining the sustainability of their operation for years to come.
They currently ship to Italy, Spain, the United States, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay through the Transnational Dole label and through the wholesaler Viva Verde.
