Table grape exports from the Region of Murcia grew more than 61% in the past ten years, according to a recent report prepared by technicians from the services of Agricultural Associations of the Agricultural Regional Offices of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Region exported 74,282 tons of table grapes, equivalent to 68% of its total
production last year. The value of these exports exceeded 112 million Euro, which represents 60% of the value of national exports.
The main recipients of these exports are the United Kingdom and Germany, which account for 71 percent. They are followed, in descending order by the Netherlands, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, South Africa, France, Sweden and Poland.
Murcia is the main producing and exporting area of Spain of seedless table grapes, as it became evident in the II International Congress of seedless table grapes, Grape Attraction 2012, held last October in Madrid, as part of the fair Fruit Attraction, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá.
