Belgium: Andiprim is satisifed with new location in Sint-Katelijne-Waver

The logistics company Andiprim was started in May 1995 as a vegetable shop in Putte, the Netherlands. The company expanded in 1998 to a fruit and veg wholesale business working at the wholesale market in Antwerp. The first lorry was purchased the following year. Company manager Dirk Smets says that transport was just a hobby back then. "We have experienced large growth since and transport has now become the core business. We transport fruit and vegetables in controlled temperatures with eight lorries. We expect to expand the fleet yet again next year."

Central location between Brussels and Antwerp

Andiprim falls under the trading group A. de Witte. The largest portion of transport takes place in Belgium and around half of it is for companies within their group. The rest of the customers are also companies within the fruit and vegetable branch. Andiprim is located at the Mechelse Auctions in Sint-Katelijne-Waver as of last year. "We are very satisfied with this location because of its centrality between Brussels and Antwerp. Along with that, a large amount of products are purchased here in the summer time," explains Dirk. "The products are divided here between the lorries and that happens a lot quicker than it used to with this permanent new location."

Every day is different

Dirk can be found primarily in the offices or the warehouses. "The planning of the right products with the right lorries is different every day. Versatility is one of the nice aspects of this job. Still, it remains exciting and it is a market that is influenced by many factors. If our customers were to buy or sell less, we would have a lot less work. We have to take these things into account every day due to these and other influences."
