Spain: Catalonia's stock of apples 25% lower than last year

Catalonia's total stock of apples up until 31 October is 25% lower than last year, with a total of 175,178 tonnes, according to information provided by Catalonia's Fruit Businesses Association.

In the case of Lerida, the stock is of 128,344 tonnes; 26% less than in October 2011, mostly of the Golden variety, with 95,801 tonnes. The other varieties are: Fuji, with 10,585 tonnes, red apples with 8,175 and Gala with 6,316. Meanwhile, in Gerona, the stock is 21% lower, with 46,835 tonnes, of which 25,364 are Golden, 7,016 are Granny Smith, 5,673 are red varieties and 5,279 are Gala. 

Regarding pears, Lerida's stock has reached 87,874 tonnes; 40% less than in 2011, of which 58,468 correspond to Conference and 14,836 to Blanquilla.
