Estimated stock Dutch top fruit

Netherlands: Apple estimate 24% lower; pear estimate -35%

The Dutch Productschap Tuinbouw has published the stock estimate for Dutch apples and pears, comparing them to 2010 and 2011 on 1 November. It is not surprising that the estimate is much lower than last year. The total apple stock is forecast at 233 000 tonnes. Last year was it was 308,000 tonnes during the same period. Thus, the stock of Jonagold is 72,000 tons. Last year this was 115,000 tons, but in 2010 this was also only 75,000 tons. The stock of Elstar with 83,000 tons is a lot lower than the 110,000 tonnes of last year. The Golden Delicious remains the same at 20,000 tons. Interestingly, the commercial production of Golden Delicious is even slightly higher than last year.

The pears stock is estimated at 145,000 tonnes, also a lot less than the 226,000 tons of last year. The supply of Conference is estimated at 122,000 tons. Last year this was 185,000 tonnes. The commercial production is estimated at 150,000 tons, considerably less than the 230,000 tonnes of last year.
