First sales REO Auction: 4.59 per kilo
Belgium: Lettuce now sold by Tomabel
The Tomabel family expanded yet again today. The REO Auction which was held today, Friday the 9th of November 2012, saw the initial sales of the first lettuce florets under the quality label of Tomabel. The Tomabel lettuce florets were delivered in an EPS crate of 1 kg which was nicely sealed with a newly designed cover sheet by Tomabel.
In total, 943 boxes of 1 kg each were supplied to the REO Auction by five West Flemish producers: Filip Verlae from Kachtem, Peter d’Hooghe from Ledegem, Nathalie Parret from West-Vleteren, Koen Dewitte from Pittem and Geert Verstraete from Ingelmunster. Buyer Verdigro from Roeselare pressed for the highest price. As a result, 32 boxes of the delicatessen were sold off for 4,59 Euro per kg.
The initial sales of the first Tomabel lettuce florets is an important event because it is a way for Tomabel to strengthen its market position as a quality label for fresh quality products. You can buy Tomabel vegetables with your eyes closed because the quality label guarantees:
-The sale of fresh produce quality product grown with respect for full flavour, transparent food security and sustainable development.
-Year-round availability. The cultivation of Tomabel lettuce florets is the main activity of the five participating producers, who were appointed especially for that purpose.
-A fully sand-free product. This is due to the special attention that is paid to the washing of the Tomabel lettuce florets.
-A homogeneous (shop) presentation of Tomabel lettuce. Florets as they are cut off at the correct height and are packed upright in the EPS crate.
-Optimum durability. Tomabel lettuce florets are refrigerated immediately after harvesting by the producer and kept cool after being delivered to the REO Auction.
