New Jazzy potato edible with or without skin

The Jazzy is a new potato variety conceived by C. Meijer in Rilland, Holland. It is a long, oval and relatively small potato with cream-colored flesh. It has a very thin skin, a good taste and a good bite. The variety was introduced at a UK retailer in August of this year and was enthusiastically received.

It’s not available in Dutch stores just yet. According to sales manager Johan van der Stee it’s still too early for that. “We don’t want to force it. Our subsidiary in the UK, Potato Innovations, is ahead of us and has its own program.”

The idea behind the Jazzy is that it’s easy to prepare: the potato doesn’t require peeling and is done in 10 to 12 minutes, instead of 20. It has the same outstanding taste as the top varieties available. Also, it has a good yield per hectare and is resistant to many diseases.
