Spain: Banana campaign to put smile on people’s faces

In July of this year, the Asociación de Organizaciones de Productores de Plátano de Canarias (ASPROCAN), a union for banana growers on the Canary Islands, asked local children to send in drawings as part of a new campaign. The growers asked kids to draw things that make them smile.

The campaign, tagged ´Sonrisas´ (Smiling) is intended to put smiles on people’s faces, not just consumers, but everybody in the industry. Producers intend to send out a positive vibe after the hardships the Islands, and Spain itself, have had to endure.

3,711 drawings were sent to growers of fruit all over Spain. A special website, www.platanodecanarias.net, has been set up to celebrate the new campaign and to thank the children who participated.
