Spain: Fruits and vegetables to any corner of the world

The consolidation of the European market, in which Almería is clearly the major supplier of horticultural products, gives incentive to the search of new horizons. Almeria's business internationalization, its favorable balance of payments, and increased production capacity and the value thereof are ingredients for a potion to which everyone has been looking for the recipe for decades. However, Almeria's big problem lies in export logistics. Practically all export is done by road, so how can we find other locations?

Almeria's airport as part of its modernization has adopted facilities that have a potential to allow equipment for a far-reaching logistics platform. And all in a location that places it within an hour of transport from the main production centers and handled in the province of Almeria.

"Precisely the projection acquired by this sector, which represents around 80% of the province´s exports, and the search for new markets due to the consolidation of traditional destinations, make the plane an optimal alternative for transporting their products. Further more, if the advantages for transporting perishable goods are taken into account like: speed, security, range and reliability" indicate sources from AENA Airports, head of infrastructure.
