Good third quarter 2012 for Bayer CropScience

The German chemical company Bayer closed the third quarter of 2012 with a turnover of 9.67 billion Euro. Compared to the third quarter of 2011, sales increased by 11.5%. Net profit was 17.8% lower at 528 million. The result of the CropScience division did improve. The division's revenue, adjusted for acquisitions, rose by 12.8% and amounted to 1.64 billion Euro. With that, an operating profit (EBITDA) of 189 million Euro was achieved, 14.5% higher than in the third quarter of 2011.

Bayer Crop Science had more turnover in Europe and North America and realized more than 10% extra sales in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. For crop protecting agents in particular, the sales of seed sowing treatment agents increased. Sales rose by 39.1% for sowing seeds, mainly due to favourable developments in the sale of rapeseed in North America.
