On the one hand, the prices for organic potatoes at a good level stable, on the other hand the nematode infestation is causing problems both for growers and also for the suppliers. The packers are notifying ever increasing numbers of rejected potatoes. The growers price has not been affected by the lesser quality. The tight supply is expected to ensure continued fixed prices.
Since the harvest is around average levels, it's bad for the growers that there has been so much crop loss. While in the coming weeks stable prices are expected, it may be at the turn of the year that prices will increase. Some traders want a surcharge for storage, to reward the larger effort by the growers.
