Strong sales growth for Syngenta in Latin America

Syngenta did good business in Latin America this quarter. Thanks to a strong increase in soya plantations in Argentina and Brazil turnover rose 18% to 1.1 billion dollars.

Total sales increased with 6%, or 2.7 billion US dollars compared to the third quarter of 2011. Syngenta plans to reach a turnover in excess of 25 billion dollars through the sales of grains, corn, rice and vegetables.

CEO Mike Mack draws confidence from the performance in Latin America and sees long-term potential due to a larger array of pesticides. For 2012, Mack is counting on an improvement of the ebitda-marge on the basis of constant exchange rates.
