US: Free app offers to find the best fruit
“The app has done well with over 5,000 downloads,” said Tom Kovacevich, the app's creator. “That's not exactly Angry Birds, but I am happy to see people downloading it daily.” Because the app can track a piece of fruit's journey to the store, he noted that most of the downloads are from consumers who want to find the freshest fruit. But he added that those in the industry can also benefit.
“We also know that many in the trade also use it,” he said. That's because the app has an information section that functions as an encyclopedia of sorts for different varieties of fruit. “A produce seller can broaden his knowledge with it,” he added.
Appealing to both consumers and trade professionals is also the fact that the app is now free. Besides the app has been updated for the iPad and adjusted to make monthly notes upload very quickly. It can be downloaded at no cost for both iPhone and Android devices at www.bestfruitnow.com.
