Ecuador: III Cumbre Mundial de Banano 2012: All things banana

Ecuador’s Asociación de Zamoranos has announced the opening of the third annual Cumbre Mundial de Banano 2012 (CMB), the most important scientific Fair in the South American banana industry. The event is held in the Centro de Convenciones of Guayaquil-Ecuador on 12-14 November.

Expected participants are Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia, Israel, México and Ecuador. Listed topics include the battle against Sigatoka Negra, integrated use of pesticides, the threat of the Raza Tropical 4, the physiology of banana ‘stress’ and many more. Relevant issues like food safety and food management will also be a focal point of debate.

Subscriptions are limited. Entrance tickets go for 350 US dollars, that’s not including federal value-added tax. The ticket includes a three-day access voucher and a tour to a banana plantation. The Fair is organised by Field Superintendents, Operations Managers and several industry organisations.
