Creating a quality seal to stop the fraudulent sale of fake Bierzo cherries was one of the main issues discussed during the official visit from Castilla y Leon's territorial delegate, Guillermo García, to the towns of Corullón, Barjas and Trabadelo, in Spain. García supported the idea of creating such a protection after hearing the concerns of the councillor, Luis Alberto Arias, on the consequences of fraud, which local growers are suffering.
"Defending the agri-food industry and the quality of all our products has always been one of my priorities and we must make every effort necessary, because we cannot forget that nowadays this sector is the backbone of Bierzo's economy, so it is essential to maintain it and develop it fully," said García in a press release published after the meeting.
