Netherlands: New Potato Car
Responding to a nationwide contest, many Dutch children sent in their personal design for a potato slice. This week potato company CêlaVíta announced the winner: Thomas Groote. His design, in the shape of a car, is already in production.
It was by no means an easy decision, says CêlaVíta. There were many contenders. People could vote for their favorite design on a special website. Young Thomas came out on top.
Thomas, with a push on the button, started production of his potato car. Special cutting tools and new packaging had to be designed for the process. The name of the winner will be mentioned prominently on the label.
According to CêlaVíta the potatoes are both healthy and tasty. They are full of fibers, vitamins and minerals. The potato cars are produced without any artificial preservatives. The contest was intended to promote health food with young children.
CêlaVíta is the number one seller of chilled potatoes in Holland. The company can boast an assortment of over 30 different products, and new ones are being marketed regularly.
