One of the more remarkable statements during Westland Event was made by eggplant grower Johan Groenewegen from Zevenbergen, Holland. According to Johan, he has developed a technique that converts plant waste in high quality building materials. The cladding, marketed under the name Nova Lignum, is made from fibers. "Basically, we are able to convert all fiber material into cladding and other building material," claims Johan.

"My eggplants are the perfect providers for convertible fibers, but any wooden material will do as long as there is no paint on them." Johan Groenewegen presented the results to impressed visitors. "It's recyclable, it doesn't rot, it's weather proof and eventually can be used as compost!" says Johan.
