Netherlands: Promax implementing IBM Storwize at Kaaij Group

The saving in energy and CO2-emissions with the revolutionary Ultra Clima glasshouse is a good example of this. Kaaij Group have chosen, on the advice of ICT partner Promax, for a virtual service environment on the basis of IBM servers with an IBM Storwize V7000 storage environment in Dinteloord.

With the increasing integration of the ICT systems as part of the production process and the process management the requirements of availability increase as well. Kaaij Group have been successfully using virtualisation technology within the service environment in order to satisfy the increasing availability requirements. Following a replacement section of the virtual infrastructure at the location in Tinte, Promax was again approached to arrange the IT-infrastructure for the new production location in Dinteloord. Strengths of IBM Storwize

The experience of Promax showed that the storage solution chosen is an important factor of success in a dynamic infrastructure and in reducing the complexity. When studying the solution it became clear quickly that a design including the Storwize V7000 storage solution of IBM would be the best infrastructure for Kaaij Group.

 

With the easy control possibilities and close integration with the server environment the complexity is reduced, this will result in a reduction of the cost of control and an optimising of the availability. "It is our point of view that complexity will finally result in a decrease of availability. The biggest mistake made by ICT service suppliers is adding unnecessary complexity with the result that the infrastructure becomes unclear and complicated," Leon Jansen, technical director of Promax explains. "In these circumstances IBM have combined all unique properties of all other high-end storage lines. A general misconception of IBM-solutions is that they are directed too much towards high-end environments and do not fit in with end-users in the middle segment. With these solutions IBM proves the opposite!"
