UK: Jaffa jumpers support Jaffa joggers
Jaffa fruit bounced into action last weekend at the Larking Gowen Ipswich half marathon.
Jaffa attended the event in support of the Ipswich JAFFA runners – a local running club in Ipswich, which shares a name with the citrus fruit brand.
Jaffa fruit handed out tangerine samples to marathon runners and also organised space hopper races for the children. Over 100 Jaffa space hoppers were given away to youngsters on the day.
Marius du Plessis, General Manager of Mehadrin, which owns the Jaffa brand said: “It’s great to get involved in regional events, such as the Ipswich half marathon. We recently gave away 500 Jaffa branded running tops in a competition on the Jaffa fruit Facebook page, and we’ve just launched The Jumpin’ Jaffa space hopper competition, so the event tied in well with our other activities.”
The annual event, which is now in its fourth year, attracts runners from across East Anglia and was based at the Northgate Sports Centre in Ipswich.
David Smith, President of JAFFA Running Club said: “We greatly appreciate Jaffa’s support of the event this year and what a sight to see all those youngsters bouncing around on orange space hoppers! The half-marathon runners were extremely grateful of the fruit samples too!”
