Ine van Kleef: “Eye catcher must keep tomatoes out of the fridge”

Netherlands: Tasty Tom introduces ‘Tomato hanger’ at AGF Detail

The tomato growers of Tasty Tom had a novelty item to present on the AGF Detail Fair this week: the Tomato hanger.

According to Ine Van Kleef from Tasty Tom the invention isn’t just eye catching, but necessary. “When promoting our produce at Floriade we learned that many consumers are still keeping their tomatoes in the refrigerator. But tomatoes will lose most of their flavour below 12°C. That is why we developed the tomato hanger.”

The design sure is catching. “The tomatoes are hanging like they do in nature. It just looks so much more appealing. Retailers are very enthusiastic. They love the design, and even more interested when they find out the tomato hanger is not even 10 Euro.”

The hanger is in production and will be available on Tasty Tom’s website in November.
