Netherlands: Havecon and Voorwinden expand activities

Greenhouse manufacturers Havecon and Voorwinden Group have expanded their activities. Led by Henk Verbakel and Aad Voorwinden, a new course has been determined and – against all odds – further investments will be made.

“We readily agree these are not the best of times, economically speaking,” says Aad Voorwinden, “but we do manage to stay ahead of the curve.”

“The changing markets basically force us to move along with them. This means expanding, not just domestically, but globally. Increasing projects from places like Canada and the US show that we are succeeding.”
“New challenges keep presenting themselves,” says Aad. “Our strength, if I may be so bold, is that we offer the entire range of the process, from design to production and delivery. But this means we have to keep up our expertise on all fronts.”

The Voorwinden Group has made a lot of investments recently, in order to proceed according to the “Voorwinden principle”. Aad: “We are extremely proud to have expanded our machine park from 45 to 75 units in a three-year period. In Canada, we erected Voorwinden Greenhouse Building Inc. so that we can operate effectively in that region. Last but not least, we set up Voorwinden Fundatie BV.”

With these, Voorwinden now has the tools to perform all activities in-house. Several new machines have made global activity possible.

“The work is still coming in, fortunately,” concludes Aad. “And apart from the machines we have access to an excellent staff. In recent times, and in spite of the crisis, we have stretched out our workforce, making our capacity even bigger. The job, wherever it is, shall be done. A deal is a deal. That’s the Voorwinden principle!”
