Organic vegetable area in the EU up to 104,000 hectares in 2010

European growers grew over 10 million hectares of organic products in 2010. This means an increase of 9 percent compared to 2009. Around 2 percent of the European agricultural area was taken up by organic cultivation. In the EU this number was even up to 5 percent. The organic vegetable cultivation in the EU increased in 2010 to 104,000 hectares. This means the organic vegetable cultivation has reached a share of 5 percent in the total EU agricultural area for vegetables.
