The Foreign Trade Society of Peru (ComexPerú) said that exports of fresh tangelos totaled USD 19.5 million between January and July of this year, representing a growth of 24 percent over the same period of 2011, reported Andina.
The pace of growth seen in recent years was highlighted because between 2007 and 2011 shipments of this product showed an average annual growth of ten percent.
Product exports are concentrated in the European market with 69 percent of the total.
Thus, among the main destinations are the Netherlands, with sales totaling USD 6.7 million, followed by the United States with USD 4.9 million, the UK with USD 3.4 million and Ireland with USD 971.911.
Among other destinations, Finland standsout. Between 2008 - 2011 there was an average annual growth of 14 percent in that country`s shopping.
Between January and July of this year, the main exporters of fresh or dried tangelos are Consorcio de Productores de Fruta, with a total of USD 5.3 million and an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
Following is Procesadora Larán with USD 4.2 million (32 percent), Empacadora y Procesadora Huamaní with USD 2.4 million (10 percent) and Cía. de Exportaciones y Negocios Generales (Coexa) with USD 1.8 million (20 percent).
