234 tastings at Magnit and X5

VLAM campaigns with Conference-pears in Russia

In order to promote the consumption of Conférence-pears in Russia this pear they were promoted at the Belgian VLAM-stand during WorldFood Moscow. With the aid of characteristic pictures in the combined stand the Belgian pear was promoted. Sofie Lambrecht, product manager fruit and vegetables, said that this autumn they will start 234 tastings and promotion actions at the Russian retailers Magnit and X5. The actions will be supported by the Belgian exporters supplying these retailers.

pear takes place.

"The Belgian Conférence pear is already known in Russia. About 50 percent of the production is exported to this country. During the last ten years the export of fruit
to Russia has increased by 270%. In addition 33% of the Russian pear import originates in Belgium. Undoubtedly this will increase and because of the trumpcards
of this pear this year we certainly expect more consumption. We also explain the best time to eat these pears. Special logos have been developed for these pears and these have the Belgian colours and are shaped like pears. During the tastings leaflets in Russian are handed out by promotion people wearing special Conférence-aprons."

"In addition to the Conférence pear, Flandria was also promoted more at the fair this year. This is especially to make our vegetables better known. We notice that the export of fruit and vegetables increased enormously during the last few years. Nevertheless the Russians find a brand important and therefore we want to show this nice Flandria brand even more," Sofie concludes.
