Mushroom Park in Maasbree offers work to 500 people

Netherland: Large investments in exotic mushrooms

In Maasbree, near Venlo, four new mushrooms growing facilities will spring up. Panbo Systems from Beringe which builds these facilities, has started a joint venture with the Korean company Greenpeace Mushrooms. The company is in Beringe will employ 500 people in the new company Mushroom Park.



Bart Bellemans from Green Mushroom Farm claims to be "proud" of this huge nursery for exotic mushrooms. The construction of the new company will cost 120 million Euro. Green Mushroom Farm recently gave a glimpse of the new nursery to FreshPlaza's sister publication AGF-Primeur. In the initial phase it was chosen to cultivate of Eryngii. At a later stage also Shimeji and Enoki nurseries will be established.

The four plants are a step towards the construction of a total of 12 companies in the Netherlands or Germany, because demand from supermarkets for exotic mushrooms is "exploding''.

Green Mushrooms already have adequate suppliers for this project, therefore are not taking any enquires.
