First large-scale project with floating solar installations in the Netherlands

Sustainable energy is popular. After all: economical, conscientious and sustainable use of energy is better for the environment and your wallet. Many companies and private homes have been turning to solar installations. You might even be one of them. One of the first things you may ask yourself is: where would I put a solar installation? Sun panels on a slanted roof, flat roof or in an open field are all good options. However, have you ever considered a solar installation on water? Taking advantage of the benefits of sun and water and is one of the most talked about innovations at the moment. Van der Valk Solar Systems in Monster, The Netherlands, is taking the lead in this area. They have developed a floating solar installation, the Floating Solar, which is suitable for every type of sun panel and measurements can be adjusted to any available area for an optimal return.

The yield with floating solar installations, just as with other solar installations, is greatly determined by the mounting system. Construction needs to be sound, sustainable and able to withstand things like heavy winds and severe water movements. Also the angle of the tilt (position to the sun), determines the final yield.

Solar installations on water, such as in ponds at homes, businesses, public waters, flood plains alongside major rivers and water basins of growers is not just interesting for your wallet. The system also has some important benefits: the water temperature stays lower because of the presence of the sun panels (which means less water evaporation and more oxygen for plants, animals and crops) and reduces the growth of algae. On the other side of that, the water also has a cooling effect on the panels which helps bring a higher return.

Are you looking for the aesthetic, ecological and financial attractive possibilities for generating solar energy? Would you like to be assured of the innovations within this area in the Netherlands? Then you should get more information about floating solar installations.
