Germany: Rewe takes over a new logistics centre
Builders have been busy with the forth building phase for the Rewe logistic centre since June of this year, in the 'Am Römerfeld' business park located in the German Bondorf. This last building phase is the last step of the building project which began in April of 2010, once Rewe took over the building.
The expansion should have been completed last year. The project was delayed multiple times. This time the planned date of December 2012 is definitive. The building will be in use by the end of January.
Thanks to the expansion, the Rewe logistics centre in Bondorf will have 4300 square metres of warehouse space in addition to 4000 square metres of freezer space. This will open up 25 new positions in the company. At the moment there are around 400 people employed in the logistics centre. Rewe has invested around 13 million Euro in the last building phase.
