Albert Paul Schriel and Guy Rinat:

"Netherlands: "Satisfying first year Global Green Team"

This year Olympic Global Produce moved from Barendrecht to Maasdijk, Netherlands, and the new name Global Green Team was announced. During the Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong Albert Paul Schriel and Guy Rinat represented the overseas division of the Olympic Food Group. "We have a new team, but experience of many years. We can be more than satisfied about the first year."

In addition to Schriel and Rinat the team includes Francisco Latorre, Hugo Zeevalk, Marcel van der Pluijm, Jelle van Dijk, Ronald van Vossen and Demian van Duivenbode. "We offer our clients the complete fruit and vegetable assortment, but the focal point is export of greenhouse vegetables. Also, thanks to the participation of FrEsteem in Global Green Team we have a large assortment of greenhouse vegetables at our disposal, which we export direct from the growers. Our network in countries such as America, Canada, Africa and the Middle and Far East is of great help in this. Asian countries are developing fast and we are keen to play a roll in this," Guy Rinat says.

Local cultivation initiatives in Asia are not in the way of the export activities of Global Green Team. "If you want to be an interesting party for a retailer, you have to have volumes all year round at your disposal. This is not as yet the case in Asia. With the FrEsteem growers we have a strong production behind us. We can buy anywhere, but do this as much as possible in house," Albert Paul explains. "In Maasdijk we are close to the growers and we have our own packing facility at our disposal, whilst for fine net mesh packings we use Olympic in Barendrecht."

In addition to our attention to export to the Middle and Far East, Africa and various countries in Europe Global Green Team have started exporting to North America, Canada and Southern Europe. "We work with representatives in Italy for sales and employ people in Israel for sourcing of the product in order to supply our customers with product all year round. We offer good product knowledge and the logistics as required by the customer," Guy sums up.

Peppers and tomatoes were the most important for Global Green Team during the last season. "We offer a good product at a good price. Also the growers receive a good price. In last instance we have to do all this together," Schriel concludes. "This manner of working has been good to all of us. We are on the right track, are going through a healthy development and with confidence look at the future of Global Green team."
