The Brazilian consumer has the image that the avocado is a fattening fruit. On the other hand the international consumption is increasing year after year and production is insufficient to meet demand. According to Dr. Tatiana Cantuarias Aviles, Chilean researcher associated with the School of Agriculture Luiz de Queiroz, Esalq from Brazil and consultant of commercial orchards, "there is room, conditions and above all economic reasons for the Brazilian producer to invest in this crop, that during the off season, can pay up to R 3.00 per kilo and has yields per hectare that can reach 50 tons in certain situations."
