US: Georgia Pecan Commission gets ready for season

The peak of Georgia Pecan season is just about two months away but publicizing the benefits of the nut is a year-round project.

The Georgia Pecan Commission recently approved At the Table Public Relations (formerly Sahlman Williams) for another year of promotion and education outreach. Highlights of the plan include a New York City media tour with influential news and magazine editors, new printed materials to highlight Georgia Pecans’ status as the AntioxiNUT and its recent American Heart Association Heart Check-mark certification, regular updates on the Commission’s consumer website with recipes and health information and a continued social media presence.

The program builds upon last season’s launch of the Commission’s AntioxiNUT campaign, which highlights research that suggests Georgia pecans have the highest amount of antioxidants of any tree nut.

"This campaign is educating consumers and reminding them that Georgia pecans are a healthy snack and recipe ingredient that can be used all year long," said Duke Lane, Jr., chairman of the Georgia Pecan Commission.
