Germany: Small offers for bananas

According to information from the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) the supply of bananas on the German market in late August / early September is not particularly big. One important reason is that persistent cold and lack of sunshine currently only limited quantities can be imported from Ecuador. But also in other growing areas there is still no rise in supply which was predicted for the end of August. The result is a very active demand for green goods and firmer prices in Germany.

In the food trade, the prices of bananas on promotion are currently higher than last year. The promotion prices are between 0.88 Euro and 1.85 Euro per kilo. This is partly dependent on the brand. Last year, these prices were between 0.88 Euros and 1.49 Euro per kilo.

Also in Eastern Europe, there are attractive prices. Even in countries that are affected by heat, such as France or Italy, the market for bananas stable.
