Peru: Agricultural exports to the US and Italy
In a few days, the annual Jackson Hole central bankers meeting will take place, where announcements are expected regarding the economic restructuring of the United States. During the same week, the European Union will take actions to safeguard Greece, Spain and Italy, with the goal of increasing national consumption and ensure liquidity in those markets.
In this context, the Agricultural News Agency (Agraria.pe), together with the specialised portal Agrodataperu, and based on the latest customs statistics, has produced a report on agricultural trade balances with the United States and Italy, detailing the first half of the year.
United States Between January and June 2012, Peru has made 184 shipments, surpassing US$ 348 million in value. Of significance are the sales of asparagus, valued at US$ 86.6 million, canned artichokes, US$ 14.1 million, mangoes, US$ 42.3 million, avocados, US$ 17.3 million, red sweet peppers, US$ 16.6 million and grapes, valued at US$ 11.1 million, among others.
Italy
It is worth mentioning that exports to Italy during 2012 increased by US$ 29 million in value in 77 products, from which we can highlight asparagus, valued at US$ 2.7 million and grapes, at US$ 1 million, among others.
