As part of their efforts to promote the development of cassava, CLAYUCA-Costa Rica, the Ministry of Agriculture and Technology Institute of Costa Rica, will hold from the 4th to 5th of October, the IV International Congress Clayuca Costa Rica 2012: Challenges in the root and tuber Sector.
International exhibitors will participate, including Fernando Callet, of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture in Colombia, CIAT Colombia, will speak on the management of seed and genetic improvement; Ricardo Diaz, Panayuca-Panama, will address the macro accelerated spread of cassava, and Bernardo Ospina, of Clayuca Colombia, will present the theme of Rural Biorefineries under alternative energy approach with social impact.
Other topics will be alternative markets, cassava diseases and potential production of starch and animal feed.
The Congress will be held in the auditorium of the Center for Technology Transfer and Continuing Education of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, in Santa Clara of San Carlos. The registration fee is $ 60 for locals $ 150 for foreign visitors.
CLAYUCA - Costa Rica was founded in October 2008 as part of the International Consortium of Caribbean Research Support and Development of Cassava. Located in Cali Colombia and built in 1999 for the development of cassava and other tropical roots, through support in areas such as research, transfer technologies, production, processing and marketing.
